Mostly playing instruments such as the flute and piano, it was the very beginning of a musical journey Bree would soon create a career from. Before the end of high school, Bree and a few of her friends started a band that would ultimately begin her career as a musician.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8216;The Middle East&#8217; which was started by Bree, released two albums entitled <em>The Recordings Of Middle East<\/em> and <em>I Want That You Are Always Happy.\u00a0<\/em>&#8216;The Middle East&#8217; also\u00a0played at The Big Day Out, Big Sound, Homebake and the Woodford Folk Festival before playing their last show at\u00a0Splendour In The Grass and splitting up in 2011.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since then, Bree has now ventured out on her own and will soon be releasing her new EP entitled &#8216;Jaws&#8217;, which contains the beautifully sensual track entitled\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zuNgeWjdQ4U\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wounded Love<\/span><\/a>&#8220;. In the wake of her upcoming release, we had a chat with Bree about her musical career and what it was like working underwater for the &#8220;Wounded Love&#8221; film clip.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What has been one of the highlights of your music career?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Highlights in my music career would definitely be touring around the world with friends and creating art with them. What a beautiful life to have. Playing festivals in different countries is always a highlight for me as well, mainly because of the locations they are set in.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Where do you source your inspiration from?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Inspiration is a tough one for me. I would say I get it from friends, from emotions going on inside of me, beauty in nature, beauty in love, beauty in failure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I do like to listen to James\u00a0Blake, Kendrink Lamar and Washed out. I don\u2019t think we sound like any of those though.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How does it feel to have now released a professionally shot music video and to have toured with Matt Corby?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Doesn&#8217;t really feel like anything except a privilege to work with a friend that I think is very talented. I guess I don\u2019t think about the shows or the music videos much. I just see Matt as a friend and\u00a0I&#8217;ve\u00a0watched his journey for a while now and worked with him when he was doing small shows. I&#8217;m just happy that more people get to hear his voice and support his music. He is a beautiful friend to have in my life and I\u2019ll support him whether or not I\u2019 am playing with him.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What would you be doing if you weren&#8217;t involved in the music scene?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I hadn\u2019t really thought about what I was going to do after school and uni. I feel like I floated into what I was meant to do and that is still how I look at life. I could be doing something entirely different in the next 20 years. I have no idea what that would be, maybe something based around the ocean or psychology.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What was the experience like filming the video clip for &#8220;Wounded Love&#8221; and working with Michael Haydon?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The experience of filming a music video for wounded love was pretty intense. It took a long time to plan and work around my other touring schedule. There were a few times we had to cancel filming because of unexpected shows, but then we found a solid week where I was in Sydney and we went hard organizing. The pool scene was the hardest, we had four hours to film and a lot of ideas had not been tested. It was also a deep pool and trying to look calm while under 3 metres of water, with terrible lungs, was a challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Working with Michael Haydon was definitely an experience. He did know a lot about filming but had never made a music video from scratch before. So together we worked pretty hard and after a long couple of weeks of preparing, filming and editing we came up with a result that was spot on to our vision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[youtube http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zuNgeWjdQ4U?feature=player_detailpage&amp;w=640&amp;h=360]<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Going out on your own after playing with &#8220;The Middle East&#8221; for a while must have been a little daunting. What went through your mind when writing your first songs and creating your own music?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I was pretty upset that the band had ended of course, however I\u00a0wouldn&#8217;t\u00a0have seen what was to come in the future. So there is no point on dwelling on things that cannot be changed. I guess now I\u2019 am working with most of the guys from \u2018the middle east\u2019 again. I only really wrote one song by myself and then I started working with Matt Corby. So I don\u2019t think it was daunting, I guess I like to create when something is on my heart and so it was pretty easy at the time to write that first song.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What do you hope to do in the future in terms of song writing\/albums?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">I&#8217;m releasing an EP in a couple of weeks. I would like to continue writing and when I get time off touring with Matt, I would like to start recording again. I guess I would be aiming for an album next.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Fellow Australian musician Pall\u00e9 Mazzulla from &#8220;<a title=\"INTERVIEW \u2013 Beech &amp;\u00a0Peech\" href=\"http:\/\/ezramagazine.com\/2013\/08\/19\/interview-beech-peech\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Beech &amp; Peech<\/span><\/a>&#8221; would like to know the process you go through when writing songs&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The process of writing songs for me is always different. Sometimes I might write the skeleton to a song with lyrics and someone from the band might re-write the chord structure and drum sections and so forth. Other times, someone in the band might start laying down some chords and beats and I just write the lyrics and melody. At the moment I am trying to get to know Ableton Live and laying down draft ideas of all instrument and then get the band together and change things depending on what the band wants.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What&#8217;s the first song you ever fell in love with?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Hard question for me because I have a terrible memory, I don\u2019t know the first song I ever fell in love with but one song I did fall in love with early in my discovery of music was \u2018Sufjan Stevens \u2013 To Be Alone With You\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Do you hope to tour around Australia at one point?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Yes I do as a head-line.
