{"id":4023,"date":"2013-10-30T15:32:28","date_gmt":"2013-10-30T05:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ezramagazine.com\/?p=4023"},"modified":"2013-10-30T15:32:28","modified_gmt":"2013-10-30T05:02:28","slug":"review-fall-out-boy-in-adelaide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ezramagazine.com\/?p=4023","title":{"rendered":"REVIEW &#8211; Fall Out Boy in Adelaide"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Saving Rock &amp; Roll<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Fall Out Boy fans rejoiced earlier this year when the band ended their four year hiatus.They wasted no time, immediately announcing tours and a new album \u2018Save and Rock Roll\u2019. Kicking off their Australian tour on Tuesday night in Adelaide, Fall Out Boy fans braced the wild weather to see their favourite punk rockers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Melbourne\u2019s British India took to the stage with their fast paced blend of indie rock.The four piece played an energetic set covering both new and old material with \u201cVanilla\u201d and \u201cI Can Make You Love Me\u201dbeing stand outs. British India have perfected their live sound but failed to get the crowd moving. Most of the audience were unfamiliar with the band but they were enjoyable none the less.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Fall Out Boy started the night off the only way they know how, with a bang. As the lights dimmed bassist Pete Wentz\u2019s voice echoed through the room and the band appeared on stage wearing balaclavas. They launched straight into \u201cThe Phoenix\u201d followed by older songs \u201cI Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy\u201d and \u201cA Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me\u201d. The crowd pushed and shoved,vying for the best view of their heroes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As usual Patrick Stump concentrated on singing while Wentz did all the talking. He rallied cries from the crowd with his honest speeches; \u201cFall Out Boy loves you because you\u2019re a freak, and you\u2019re different from everyone else, not in spite of it\u201d. It was as if Fall Out Boy had never left. New songs such as \u201cAlone Together\u201d and \u201cDeath Valley\u201d were received well but it was the old favourites that the crowd went crazy for. They sung their hearts out to \u201cSugar, We\u2019re Going Down\u201d, \u201cThis Ain\u2019t a Scene, It\u2019s An Arms Race\u201d and \u201cDance, Dance\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Suddenly the band appeared at the back of the room to play acoustic versions of \u201cWhere Is Your Boy\u201d and \u201cI&#8217;m Like A Lawyer With The Way I&#8217;m Always Trying to Get You Off\u201d. The crowd relaxed for a while but the energy quickly ramped again with \u201cI Don\u2019t Care\u201d and \u201cMy Songs Know What You Did In The Dark\u201d. Patrick took to the piano for a heartfelt rendition of \u201cSave Rock and Roll\u201d and the night ended with the only song that can end a Fall Out Boy show, \u201cSaturday\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So have Fall Out Boy saved rock and roll? I\u2019m not sure but what I do know is that they stand up for what they believe in and fight against everything that is wrong in the music industry. That night there was a feeling of unity in the room, the feeling of music bringing hundreds of strangers together. After so many years Fall Out Boy are still able to connect with their loyal fans.
