Soaking up the atmosphere at The Market Shed<\/h2>\n

D<\/span>uring one of the busiest months of the year on the Adelaide social and event scene, the Pure Veg Food and Wine Fair<\/strong>\u00a0held on March 14, is another event to add to your calendar when it comes around again.<\/p>\n

With over 25 stalls selling food and drink\u00a0such as\u00a0vegan cakes; paella, cold press juices, vegan burgers and local wine, plus a variety of home-wares\u00a0and gifts, the event is family friendly and welcoming to everyone.<\/p>\n

Appealing to the health-savvy, budding food\u00a0connoisseurs and people\u00a0who want a fun day out with live music and delicious food, the Fair\u00a0provided a welcoming atmosphere all afternoon and into the evening.<\/p>\n

Starting at midday\u00a0punters began filling up The Market Shed on Holland St<\/strong>\u00a0and set\u00a0in to a vegan-friendly lunch and a glass of locally made wine. Musicians such as Alice Haddy sang soulful tunes in the background whilst people enjoyed sitting down and relaxing.<\/p>\n

Our treat pick of the day were the vegan-friendly pops from Adelaide Hills business Loca Pops<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, they were incredibly sweet and creamy; a perfect addition to a wonderful afternoon. We also enjoyed the sweet potato burger from the Walnut bar<\/strong> and devoured the Mocha cake from Raw Karma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Organiser Creenagh Fay says the event was a success and she hopes to run another event later on in the year.<\/p>\n

“We are really pleased with the outcome (of the event), we’ve had lots of positive feedback on the variety of food, the atmosphere and the music,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We think around 3500 people came through the doors, and based on the success we hope to run another event in September, but it’s still to be decided.”<\/p>\n

The Market Shed on Holland St provided ample space for the event, though at certain times felt crowded due to the opening and afternoon rushes. Wood oven pizzas were cooking away, wine was being tested and tried, paella was being devoured by the wok and vegan-friendly cakes were putting smiles on children’s faces.<\/p>\n

The event proved to be a success as there was lots of\u00a0variety in terms of food, drink and home-wares. Home-made soy candles, soaps, body scrubs and cookbooks were all available to buy.<\/p>\n

It was wonderful to see people out and about supporting a local event such as the Pure Veg Food and Wine Fair. Like\u00a0the Gilles st Market and the Dapper Market, I hope that the Fair\u00a0becomes a tradition on the Adelaide scene. It encourages healthy eating and provides another outlet for often hard-to-find vegan food and oddities.<\/p>\n

A shopper and\u00a0foodies delight, I’m excited to see it hopefully come back later on in the year.<\/p>\n
