SBS 2 – The Channel You’ve Been Waiting For<\/span><\/h3>\n

In the wide world of\u00a0television, Australia is only just beginning to follow in the footsteps of the UK and America in terms of the variety of shows offered on our airwaves. With the already functioning cult culture of films and television shows around the world, Australia is often left in the dark for several months before these shows appear on television here. That’s why SBS 2 has\u00a0re-branded\u00a0their approach to deliver these shows directly to you from overseas.<\/span><\/p>\n

SBS 2 will be a place to share a passion for emerging cultural ideas and experiences\u00a0with diverse content that is edgy, adventurous and fun, and connects audiences with the\u00a0world.\u00a0The schedule will be packed with content that is a rich and innovative combination of\u00a0adventurous documentaries, fresh comedy and drama, hit entertainment, quality sport\u00a0and tailored news and current affairs.\u00a0The channel will offer viewers free-to-air and Australian premiere content including the\u00a0channel\u2019s first commissioned program; dedicated sport programming and – in a first in\u00a0Australian broadcasting SBS 2 will launch Back2Back where viewers get to watch the\u00a0whole series of selected new programs via the SBS ON DEMAND service before they\u00a0broadcast on the channel.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are some shows that will be on SBS 2?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Drama<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

SBS 2 will show some top acquired drama series including, Threesome<\/strong>, Him & Her<\/strong>\u00a0and Skins<\/strong> series seven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Threesome<\/strong> is an outrageous ‘dramedy’ about three inseparable friends on the verge of thirty, who after a wild night out end up having an unplanned threesome which results in an even more unplanned pregnancy. Together they decide it\u2019s time to ditch the party lifestyle and have the baby – as a threesome. Began airing Thursday 4th April, 8.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Him & Her<\/strong> is an anti-romantic comedy about\u00a0Steve (Russell Tovey) and Becky (Sarah\u00a0Solemani) \u2013 a young couple deeply in love, often in bed and rarely in employment.\u00a0Began airing Thursday 4th April, 9pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

BAFTA Award winning series Skins<\/strong> will return with an edgy new season as a fresh\u00a0generation of four boys and four girls love each other, hate each other, screw each\u00a0other, and get smashed together. SBS 2 will also show the seventh and final season of\u00a0Skins later in the year which will see the return of first and second generation cast\u00a0favourites Cassie, Effy, and Cook. Series five began airing Thursday 11th April, 9.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Humour<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"The<\/span><\/a>The Midnight Beast<\/strong>. Already an online phenomenon with\u00a0more than 45 million hits on YouTube,\u00a0parody band The Midnight Beast bring\u00a0their bonkers all-singing, all-dancing sixpart\u00a0self-titled comedy series to SBS 2.\u00a0The series features band members\u00a0Stefan Abingdon, Dru Wakely and\u00a0Ashley Horne as struggling musicians,\u00a0trying to make it big in the music world.\u00a0As well as slipping into wild music\u00a0videos, the series sees the band having to cope with day-to-day challenges like\u00a0sharing a dingy East London flat and trying to impress girls when they have no cash\u00a0and one of them has to sleep in the kitchen.\u00a0The series charts their failures and successes as they try to claw and hobble through\u00a0a sea of bizarre obstacles and unsavoury characters toward pop stardom. Bullet in the Face<\/strong>, a viciously funny,\u00a0wildly violent, bloody and unabashedly\u00a0politically incorrect action comedy series\u00a0from Canada starring Eddie Izzard and\u00a0Eric Roberts, will premiere on the\u00a0channel. Starts Monday 1st April,\u00a09.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"7698_2-tvbig-benidormbastards\"<\/span><\/a>Joining Bullet in the Face on Mondays\u00a0will be Emmy Award winning Belgian\u00a0hidden camera comedy series Benidorm\u00a0Bastards<\/strong> which stars seven senior\u00a0citizens who roam the streets pulling absurd stunts on unsuspecting young people.\u00a0Starts Monday 1st April, 8.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

SBS 2 aims to turn cult into popular and brings Community<\/strong> to the channel for a dose of\u00a0regular nightly comedy. Starring Chevy Chase and Donald Glover, Community\u00a0follows a band of misfits who form a study group at Greendale Community College\u00a0where together they end up learning more about themselves than they do about their\u00a0coursework. Every weeknight from 1st April, 7pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"4470_9-tvbig-russell\"<\/span><\/a>Russell Howard is one of the UK\u2019s most successful stand-up comedians and his show\u00a0Russell Howard\u2019s Good News<\/strong> will be a staple late night show on the channel. With his\u00a0boy next door charm and seamless mix of irreverent pop culture chatter, cynicism and\u00a0satire, he offers a hilarious and unique take on the news. Filmed in front of a live studio\u00a0audience, Good News combines Russell\u2019s stand-up routines with funny clips from the\u00a0internet and quick-fire sketches, as he presents a brand new perspective on the big\u00a0stories dominating news outlets across the world. Every week night from 1st April,\u00a0late nights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Documentaries and Factual<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Charismatic host Diego Bu\u00f1el has travelled\u00a0extensively as a foreign correspondent,\u00a0reporting from countries including Iraq,\u00a0Afghanistan and the Congo. After years of\u00a0travelling, covering news stories that only\u00a0ever focussed on the negatives, Diego\u00a0decided a change of focus was needed, and\u00a0the idea for Don\u2019t Tell My Mother was born.\u00a0In this powerful, heartfelt documentary series, Diego travels to some of the world\u2019s most\u00a0troublesome places, looking beyond the headlines to reveal the rich cultures and the\u00a0true interests of the people. Began airing Tuesday 2nd April, 8.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Be Your Own Boss<\/strong> is an inspiring entrepreneurship program where the charismatic\u00a0and successful founder of UK brand \u2018Innocent drinks\u2019 Richard Reed looks to invest in\u00a0three big ideas presented to him by aspiring young entrepreneurs. (Date TBC)<\/span><\/p>\n

Warrior Road Trip<\/strong> is a cross-continental exploratory journey which introduces viewers\u00a0to America through the eyes of warriors from the Maasai culture – Boni and Lemarti.\u00a0These warriors, who rarely abandon their traditional clothes or spears, embark on acultural odyssey to experience the Western world while staying true to their tribal\u00a0values. Began airing 2nd April, 9.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Insightful documentary series The Pitch<\/strong> takes cameras behind the closed doors of the\u00a0world of advertising as two top American creative advertising agencies go head to head\u00a0to win a real campaign from a major brand. Date TBC.<\/span><\/p>\n

SBS 2 will also screen three provocative graffiti inspired documentary films. Graffiti\u00a0Wars<\/strong> (Thursday 4th April, 9.30pm), questions whether graffiti is the work of mindless\u00a0vandals or creative practitioners; Antics Roadshow<\/strong> (Monday 1st April, 7.30pm) \u2013\u00a0Banksy\u2019s \u2018incomplete guide to total anarchy\u2019 taking a greatest hits approach to wayward\u00a0behaviour, sedition and sabotage; and Exit Through the Gift Shop<\/strong> (Saturday 6th\u00a0April, 9.30pm) the inside story of Street Art, and a brutal and revealing account of what\u00a0happens when fame, money and vandalism collide.<\/span><\/p>\n
