Adelaide’s live music culture is a perfect option for a Friday or Saturday night to relax the working week away. Local venue The Governor Hindmarsh, plays host to various signed and unsigned bands, providing much needed space for gigs and live shows. Only a 5 minute drive from the Adelaide CBD, it’s easy access and location bode well with local and international talent.

Local and Triple J Unearthed band, Stock Exchange, who are based in the Adelaide Hills, regularly play at venues such as The Exeter, The Crown and Anchor and ‘The Gov’. Their Indie Rock  sound is thrown together with saxophones and harmonic vocals from lead singer and front man Richard Sallis, to produce an alternative and unique sound, unlike most modern music. Their set-list combined of some of my personal favourites such as; ‘The City’, ‘You’re A Casino’ and ‘Mr Hollywood’, with their new and refreshing, up and coming single titled ‘Feels’.

Tdep de Prinse (pictured left), is definitely a positive addition to the band. Accompanying the boys on their old and new songs, de Prinse provides another sound that so beautifully mixes in with their already perfected tunes. Aaron Williams (electric guitar) and Mitchell Skinner (drums) never fail to impress either, with their style adding to the bands success during live performances. Another highlight of the night was bass and saxophone player Oscar Hose, with his soulful style leading the rhythm throughout the night.

Most notable is the voice of Richard Sallis, whose range is extremely diverse and soothing at the same time. From his calming rendition of the slow song ‘The City’, to the upbeat and new single ‘Feels’, Stock Exchange will definitely be a band to keep your eye on over the coming months. What is so brilliant about Stock Exchange is the amount of energy visible on stage. An enthusiastic band is so pleasing to watch because you know they care about what they’re playing.

‘Feels’ will be their first single released on iTunes, and will be available on April 15, 2013. Check back soon for more details and interviews with the band, including the release of ‘Feels’ and their main stage gig on May the 3rd. You can also listen to sample the track here: amazon.
