About The Swisse Color Run

Inspired in part by the Hindu Holi festival, with its tradition of welcoming Spring by throwing natural coloured powders, The Swisse Colour Run guarantees a truly memorable experience as runners are showered in blue, yellow, orange and pink coloured powder at each kilometre stage, (made from 100% natural and safe food grade corn starch), turning their pristine white attire into a rainbow explosion of colours! Founded in the USA in January 2012, The Color Run kicked off its Australian tour in Melbourne in November 2012 as The Swisse Color Run. With Sydney, Perth, the Gold Coast and Newcastle already having become multi-colored in February, April and early May 2013, The Swisse Color Run will be visiting Adelaide on Sunday May 19 at the Victoria Racecourse.

Affectionately known as ‘The Happiest 5k on the Planet’, The Swisse Color Run marks the launch of Swisse’s charitable arm, The Celebrate Life Foundation. The Celebrate Life Foundation aims to raise funds that contribute to the promotion of health and happiness across Australia. Swisse hopes that the foundation can generate more than $1 million in charitable contributions over the next 12 months through The Swisse Color Run, and other fundraising efforts. The Celebrate Life Foundation is pleased to announce that Make-A-Wish Australia will partner with them as the joint major charity for the Adelaide event.

Make-A-Wish Australia is an organisation which grants the wishes of children and young people with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Foundation, in conjunction with The Swisse Color Run, will make a donation to Make-A-Wish Australia at the conclusion of the event, and encourage all The Swisse Color Run participants to join them in raising funds through the Everyday Hero website. National Manager Luke Hannan said, “We are delighted to bring this truly unique event to Adelaide. The Swisse Color Run is not a race – it’s not about competing or running a personal best, it’s about connecting with friends and family, being active and enjoying yourself.”

The Day of the Event

Kicking off at 9:00am,  and then continue in a staggered fashion, with waves of 1,000 participants released approximately every five minutes thereafter. Adelaide event entries are limited to 10,000 and are expected to sell quickly, just as previous events have – including sellout events thus far in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Color Runners can enter The Swisse Color Run as individuals, or register as a team of four or more. Once runners complete the course, the fun and festivities continue with the ‘Finish Festival’. A coloured extravaganza of epic proportions featuring music and a family-friendly party atmosphere, celebrations culminate in a mass throw of colour powder packets, creating a cloud of rainbow colours. Importantly, there is also an area for runners to get cleaned up before leaving the course.
