Wattle St Market

An eclectic mix

Bringing together an eclectic mix of stalls including handmade kids and adult clothing, accessories, bags, organic soy candles, soaps, plants and all things organic food; Wattle St Market is a quaint avenue for market goers on a Saturday.

Held within the front yard of a house, the market utilises the area without feeling too crowded. Attracting a steady flow of market hunters, the family friendly event has a style of its own. It’s simple, small and perfect to start a Saturday morning off – or have a browse around lunch time.

Featuring handmade stalls such as Shanghai Lil & The Scarlet Fez, owner Mark McCarthy says it’s fantastic that markets around Adelaide are still attracting the crowds.

“We go to a few markets here and there, and it’s great fun. All the product is handmade right in my own home – my house smells amazing (laughs). I make the soaps in small batches and they’re all natural and vegan.”

With the market season slowing down over the next few months, there may be a little less happening on the weekends; but not to fear, there’ll always be something on in Adelaide.

“There’s always something happening on a weekend which is fantastic. We originally started out at Bowerbird but now we’re here at Wattle St as the other side of the business has really taken off.” owner of Food Man Chew Mick Menzies.

Specialising in gourmet lunches for businesses in Adelaide, their free delivery service makes it quick and easy for a bite to eat on the go. Ezra sampled the porcini mushroom and percorino arancini; a crumbed start with a smooth mushroom finish in the middle was simple yet delicious.

Of course, one of our favourite stalls Loca Pops was there, bringing vegan delights to the crowd – I simply cannot have enough of them!
